Course VPN

The Course VPN (CVPN) feature lets desktops connect directly with one another.

It replaces the older "Turn off network isolation" option. When network isolation was disabled, desktops could talk to any other desktop on the same server, but communication between different servers and data centres wasn't possible.

With Course VPN, any desktop enrolled in a given course can communicate, no matter which server or data centre it's on.

This feature is exclusive to Ubuntu and Windows 10. For other operating systems, you can still use the "Turn off network isolation" approach.

Take a look at the terminal screenshots below; they display the CVPN interface from a terminal view, along with extra properties of the connected interface.

Here you can see screenshots of the VPN network interface that appears when training workstations are set up. The terminals show two student workstations, each displaying the `edge0` network interface—the course VPN.
