FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)

1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (Because MS Excel functions are required)

  1. No, MS Office isn’t included inside DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). We only supply a DD virtual machine and the training room.
  2. Trainers should arrange a free-trial MS Office account for all participants.
  3. Otherwise, participants can use their own MS Office account.

2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we’ve provided an easy way to upload files from your own machine to the DD Desktop. The one small catch is that only one file can be transferred at a time right now. But you can simply compress everything you need into a zip or archive and then copy that over to your DaDesktop machine without any trouble.
  2. If you’re using a cloud storage service, make sure to log out from it before cloning to all delegates.

3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?

  1. If you’re on the Chrome browser, head to "chrome://settings/system" and disable the Hardware acceleration option.

4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No, the Terms and Conditions state that trainers cannot access the wiki.
  2. If you need an edit done on the NobleProg wiki, just copy & paste the content into an email to the trainer (a PDF is also fine).

5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?

Yes! Add any domain matching this pattern to your whitelist:

  1.              *.npg.io
  2.             https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

For any further questions, please reach out to DaDesktop Support.

6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?

  1. Trainers can first select and configure DD specifications (RAM, CPUs, and Disk).
  2. Then, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox inside DD to set up multiple virtual machines and configure the network between them.
  3. Once everything is ready, you can clone it across to delegates in seconds.
  4. If you need help, don’t hesitate to contact DaDesktop Support.

7. What is the server capacity?

  1. That depends on the server hardware.
  2. For instance, 512GB RAM can be utilized as 512GB *3.
  3. Each server supports a maximum disk of 250GB, 16 CPU threads per desktop, while RAM configurations can be customized.

8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?

  1. Yes, recordings can now be downloaded by clicking the three small dots to the right of the video player.
  2. The video includes voice recording, provided you use the audio from the training room.

9. Which browser should I used for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera work perfectly.
  2. Other browsers like IE are not fully supported.

10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?

  1. Check your network connection, as DaDesktop performance depends on your local speed.
  2. Confirm the server location—when the coordinator creates the desktop, they always choose a server close to the participants.
  3. Turn off your VPN or set it to PAC mode. Also, disable any security applications, especially those that affect WebSockets, which are essential for smooth DaDesktop operation.

11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network

Remote Desktop access relies on WebSocket

  1. The blockage could be coming from your device. Look over your settings that might disable Websocket. For example, on some Chromebooks, if the proxy setting "Use the same proxy for all protocols" is ticked, Websocket won’t work (because it forces a proxy onto the SOCKS host). Untick it and leave the SOCKS host field empty—this should fix it.
  2. It could also be the network, not your device. In that case, reach out to your network administrator to have Websocket unblocked.

12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?

  1. Please check this GPU page for information on GPU support.

13. Is there any potential issues or answers?

  1. Normally, using DaDesktop feels just like working on any regular Windows or Linux machine, but there are a few minor quirks that can appear with certain software applications in a training context, especially when cloning machines.

14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?

  1. No, we don’t offer support for Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, largely due to licensing issues that often come up.
