Bare-Metal PC Farm
Beyond cloud-based offerings, DaDesktop also gives you direct access to physical, bare-metal desktops or servers.
This setup assigns a dedicated physical machine to each participant and has proven useful in a range of scenarios, such as when participants need:
- an entire server that must run without virtualization for performance or licensing constraints (e.g., ONAP, OpenStack)
- hardware that simply cannot be virtualized—such as certain GPUs, Mellanox cards (when firmware changes are part of the training), or other networking gear
Moreover, this approach integrates seamlessly with existing physical classrooms in Spain with only minimal adjustments. That means trainers can set up the training environment without ever needing to be on site.
The same cloud-based desktop image can be deployed directly onto each participant’s physical machine.
Requirement for onsite deployment
To use this on-premises, you’ll need to buy physical control cables (called ddnexus), which cost approximately 100 USD per desktop.
You can test this out by choosing Metal PC when you create a Standalone or Fresh-start desktop.
